My weekends were booked, and only one dive operation, Windy City Divers, was running charters during the week.  Turned out to be a great choice, and I lucked out with a great boat & captain who is owner/operator.  If you’ve never dove the Great Lakes before, it can be a bit tough to understand.   For those uninitiated, its like the freshwater Truk Lagoon of the USA.  Shipwrecks hundreds of years old are the main attraction, preserved magnificently by the cold water.  Life teams on these wrecks, although most of the biomass is the invasive zebra mussel and an invasive species of goby.  There’s a story behind every wreck, and its pretty cool to be thinking of the fate of the vessel (and sometimes its passengers as well) while you’re literally swimming through American history.  These shots were taken over four dives on two days, with the Nikon D90 in an Aquatica housing with dual Ikelite DS-160 strobes, and the Tokina 10-17 lens.  I’ve left the image titles up for th history buffs.
