Beneath the surface, where the foam gives way to the profound silence of the depths, a possibility emerges: the opportunity to become a guardian of the ocean.
Artificial lighting is prohibited to protect the retina of wildlife and ensure the authenticity of colors. This approach prioritizes natural light and digital restoration, transforming the photographer into a discreet observer.
Photography increases mental workload. It can increase oxygen consumption by 30%, reduce peripheral vision, and impair alertness.
This is the art of absolute underwater camouflage. The diver adapts their posture and stabilization to become an invisible presence within the ecosystem.
Absolutely. AquaExposure is designed for all divers, all types of water, and anyone who enjoys diving, regardless of whether the water is turquoise, green, or cold. The principles of approach, light, and interaction apply wherever there is life to observe.
For the theoretical modules, no certification is required. However, a Level 1 certification (CMAS/PADI Open Water or equivalent) is strongly recommended for your safety and the stability of your dives.
Each image produced by our students can be used for citizen science (species identification using Manta Matcher). We also support DAN Europe and Green Fins, and our manifesto prohibits any invasive practices such as contact with wildlife or the use of flash.
The AquaExposure training provides you with all the necessary tools to understand how to interact with megafauna. However, the fundamental principle remains the same: to respect the animal above all else and to follow the instructions of the local guide without exception. The "Erase Scenery" technique that we teach is specifically designed to allow you to experience these encounters in a close and intimate way, without ever posing a threat to the animal or to yourself.
Using an action camera: a GoPro or Insta360 Ace Pro works perfectly. Our technical specifications will take care of the rest. You already have the essentials – the ability to comfortably operate underwater. AquaExposure handles the composition, lighting, and interaction. The shoot can be completed in just a few dives.
More than just transferable skills, they are a real advantage. You already have the eye, the composition, and the sensitivity to light. What AquaExposure provides in addition is the art of underwater interaction: how to have the best encounters with marine life without exhausting yourself, without running, and without scaring them. In just a few dives, your land-based skills will transform into results that few divers achieve in years.
No. We recommend using lightweight equipment (like a GoPro or a smartphone in a waterproof case) to minimize mental strain and focus on the essentials: the ease of swimming.
Any recent smartphone in a touch-sensitive case (such as the Divevolk SeaTouch) will work. The key is not the resolution, but the ability to control natural light and framing. We teach how to achieve cinematic results with any device.
No. An iPad is more than sufficient, and we will also show you how to create your video montage directly from your phone using dedicated apps. In practice, you can accomplish almost everything that the course teaches with only your smartphone.
It is possible to extract a photo from a video. It is not possible to film from a photo. This is exactly where AquaExposure stands out: our approach allows you to do both simultaneously, by filming in high resolution and selecting the perfect moment in post-production. You dive, you interact, you enjoy, and you return with both still images and video footage. Diving remains a pleasure, not a hunt.
We are partners with the DiveVolk brand because we have been using their housings for over two years and are convinced of their value, both in terms of price and the quality of their after-sales service. Currently, the DiveVolk SeaTouch is the best solution available for divers who want to take photos and videos without being weighed down by a lot of equipment underwater.
Thanks to citizen science, your photos are used by researchers around the world to identify species and track populations.
Photos of manta rays, whale sharks, or sea turtles can be submitted to databases like Manta Matcher. The unique patterns of each animal allow researchers to track populations, migration routes, and the health of ecosystems.
Scuba diving schools teach the diving technique (air management, decompression). AquaExposure teaches the art of ethical underwater photography: animal-friendly approaches, composition using natural light, digital restoration, and citizen science. The two are complementary.

Aquaexposure offers training in photography, video, and underwater interaction. The latter part – underwater interaction – is our true specialty, which sets us apart from everything else. The initial idea was simple: after more than twenty years of diving, over ten years of accumulated field experience, and five years of specialized training in underwater photography and video, I have condensed everything I wished I had known from the start into a single program. The goal is to provide you with tangible results, with the most accessible budget possible, by making your diving easier, not more complicated. Whether you are starting from scratch or already have equipment gathering dust in a drawer, this training is for you.
We don't claim to be the best. However, AquaExposure is undoubtedly the most comprehensive, straightforward, and suitable training program available in French. And, most importantly, it offers the best value for your money. To be specific: a digital underwater camera with its housing costs at least €3,000. With AquaExposure, you can expect to pay around €300 for an action camera if you don't already have one, and €350 for the lifetime training, for a total of €650 for equivalent results achieved in a few weeks if you are diligent. This is not a shortcut; it's a method.
Yes. The 10 modules are progressive, ranging from Module 1 (Preparation & Safety) to Module 10 (Conclusion & Future Directions). Each lesson includes text, slides, audio, and video content to suit your learning pace.
You will never be alone. For members who have subscribed to the lifetime subscription, direct human support is included. An existing student community already exists through a Discord server, where Sentinels can interact, support each other, and share their images. A dedicated application is currently being developed to bring together training, the community, and the network in a single platform.
Yes. Practical AquaExposure trips are organized to allow participants to work together in the field, focusing on their strengths and areas for improvement, and to share as much knowledge as possible in real-world conditions. This is where theory meets practice in the water.
Good news: this training has been tested on 10-year-olds. It has also been tested on my parents. And it has the official approval of my mother, which, believe me, is the most demanding validation of all. The truth is that Aquaexposure is not a training program that adds technology to your life; quite the opposite. The central idea is to simplify all the tools you already use, or that you hesitate to use precisely because they seem complicated to you. Less hassle, more results. And if any part of the program seems unclear to you, I personally guarantee it: as CEO of Aquaexposure, I will take the time to explain to you, individually, the point that is causing confusion. Not a chatbot, not an automatic email. Me.
To ensure that payment options always fit the situation, we offer a variety of choices. You can pay in full, or opt for a SEPA direct debit if that's your preference. You can also use PayPal for payments in three installments without fees, or use the integrated ALMA module within Stripe to spread your payment over 2 to 10 installments, depending on what works best for you. In short, there's a solution for every budget.
Yes, and this is actually encouraged. From a group of 5 people, a special group rate is available. The easiest way to proceed is to contact AquaExposure directly via the contact form on the website, or through WhatsApp. We will get back to you quickly to create a customized offer for your group.
Not only can you, but we sincerely hope that you will. AquaExposure gives you complete ownership of all your images. If this training allows you to sell your photos, make a living from them, or even turn it into a career one day, that would be the most rewarding outcome for us. It would be a great honor.

No, absolutely not. At AquaExposure, we advocate for the use of no filters or lights to preserve the true appearance of the image until post-processing. In most cases, a red filter will eventually scratch after a few dives, and your camera will then focus on the scratch rather than the "manta ray" effect you want to capture. Furthermore, a red filter doesn't adapt to the depth at which you are diving, which will result in poorly corrected images regardless of the quality of your equipment. Digital restoration in post-processing is more precise, reliable, and doesn't damage your lens.
Three simple habits are enough to prevent this problem. Always wipe your housing and camera with microfiber cloths before closing them. Never leave your equipment exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures between dives. And always place a desiccant packet or a moisture-absorbing stick inside the housing before each use. By adopting these three habits once and for all, you'll avoid many disappointments underwater.
In the AquaExposure training program, we have created detailed and tailored field guides for each situation, depending on what you are filming and where you are diving. On average, we recommend a minimum resolution of 4K and 60 frames per second to achieve the best possible videos. These settings allow you to capture images that are rich enough to extract high-quality photos and slow down your footage in post-production without losing sharpness.
The correction is achieved through digital restoration (Module 6), using, for example, the "33 Point Cube" on a tablet, to restore the original colors without causing damage.
A LUT (Look-Up Table) is a color profile in .cube format that automatically converts the blue/green hues in your underwater images to natural colors. Our Module 7 teaches you how to install and create your own LUTs in DaVinci Resolve.
Yes, the platform is fully responsive. All content (text, slides, videos, quizzes) is accessible on tablets, smartphones, and computers. In fact, the iPad editing workflow is a key component of our teaching.
Yes. These expeditions are not included in the basic training, but they are offered primarily to VIP members of AquaExposure. This is an opportunity to put into practice everything you have learned, in a supervised setting and with carefully chosen conditions and destinations.
With 2 hours per week, it will take approximately 10 weeks to complete the 10 modules. However, your access is unlimited: you can review each lesson as many times as needed.
