For years, the PT-059 housing for OM System TOUGH TG cameras has quietly done its job. It is the unassuming workhorse of most dive centres, the housing you hand a beginner or pack for travel when you do not want to risk more fragile gear. But its ergonomics never really evolved. SEA&SEA just changed that with its Rig System.
At the core of the system sits the RS Main Frame, designed to attach directly to the existing PT-059 housing. No need to buy a whole new housing: the Rig System bolts onto what you already own.
The RS Single Grip Set can be reversed to suit right or left-handed divers, and a second grip can be added for extra stability on wide-angle shots. It is the kind of detail that looks minor on paper and genuinely changes the handling once underwater, especially on longer dives when arm fatigue sets in.
The RS Bayonet Mount Base lets you attach conversion lenses, wide-angle or macro, directly to the rig. And to avoid losing a detached lens mid-dive, a dedicated holder (RS Bayonet Lens Holder) keeps it safely stowed until it is needed again.
What makes this announcement interesting beyond the TG crowd is the stated compatibility with the most common action cams: GoPro HERO13, DJI Osmo Action 6, Insta360 Ace Pro 2. The same grip and mounting-point system adapts to these cameras, turning it into a cross-platform accessory rather than a niche product.
That echoes a trend we already noted with AOI's Quick Release housings: the accessory ecosystem for action cams and waterproof compacts is maturing, and starting to resemble what mirrorless and DSLR shooters have long had. The days of the underwater action cam being just a box strapped to a mask are ending.
