Discover the new SportDiver 2026! Waterproof even with the door open. Learn about its innovations and if it's right for you at €299.
When a brand releases an update to its flagship product after years without major changes, we pay close attention to the details. Not to be cynical, but to see if it's just marketing hype or genuine engineering work.
In the case of the SportDiver 2026, there are concrete aspects. And there are also limitations that do not disappear.
The key change in the SportDiver 2026 is not visible from the outside. It concerns the electronic module that manages the alarm sensors. This module is now waterproof independently of the main housing.
What this means in practice: you can open the casing with wet hands on a boat, insert your phone with a small splash of seawater on the edge - and the internal circuitry is no longer at risk. The electronics are isolated even when the door is open.
This is an improvement directly resulting from feedback received in the field. Previous enclosures could suffer electronic damage during handling in wet conditions, even before entering the water. This problem has been resolved.
The dual alarm system remains present and has been refined. An early humidity alarm signals any abnormal infiltration, ideally before water reaches the phone. A pressure gauge alarm monitors the integrity of the seal in real-time during the dive.
The principle is good. However, the real-world application is more nuanced: a closed box on a boat at 35 degrees Celsius, immersed in water at 22 degrees Celsius, can trigger the humidity alarm even with a perfectly intact seal. The trapped air contracts as it cools, and the relative humidity increases. This is physics, not a manufacturing defect. Any alarm that occurs underwater should be taken seriously and verified on the surface.
The SportDiver 2026 is certified for use at depths of up to 40 meters. The price is €299 for the case only, and it is available through the SCUBAPRO network.
The opening remains on the front side. This is convenient for quickly inserting the phone, but the main seal is directly exposed with each manipulation. Towel fibers, grains of sand, and salt residue tend to settle precisely there. The maintenance routine remains the same as with previous generations: clean the seal before each closure, and lubricate it regularly.
The proprietary SeaLife app remains mandatory for triggering and adjusting settings. There is no access to the native RAW format of the iPhone, no professional mode, and no manual focus control. If you have an iPhone 15 Pro and want to use its Photo Pro mode or ProRAW format, the SportDiver does not allow this.
The SportDiver 2026 has a clear target audience: the diver who wants to capture good images without worrying about settings, who dives up to 40 meters, and who wants a reliable product with serious distribution through SCUBAPRO.
For someone learning underwater photography who wants to understand the settings and improve, AquaExposure recommends DiveVolk. DiveVolk allows the phone's native app to remain active: RAW format is accessible, professional mode is open, and focus can be controlled. What we teach in our training courses applies directly, without having to adapt exercises to a proprietary application.
Both approaches are valid. What differs is the intention: to take photos in a relaxed manner, or to take photos while making progress.
