Algorithm and Decompression StopsDecompression management is the absolute core of any dive computer that respects itself and claims to ensure your safety.

The Scubapro G3 excels with its algorithmic flexibility, giving the diver true control over their ascent profile. It offers a choice between the historical in-house ZH-L16 ADT MB PMG algorithm and the standard Bühlmann ZH-L16 GF model, recognized worldwide. This duality allows you to adapt to individual preferences while providing complete transparency on the physiological calculations performed in real time. Gradient factors are fully adjustable for those who wish to fine-tune their conservatism with surgical precision based on their fatigue or sea conditions. The full display of the decompression ceiling and total ascent time provides a clear view of the situation at any point during the dive. The visual alarms are so obvious that even a diver distracted by the beauty of a stunning drop-off will be immediately brought back to attention. No major safety alerts are listed on this model, which benefits from decades of brand expertise in decompression technology. It is an extremely reliable system that provides reassurance during deep dives where errors have absolutely no place. Understanding these mathematical models requires time, reading, and practice to be fully assimilated.

Air and Multi-GasA diver's progression often involves using more complex gas mixes to optimize safety and extend bottom time.

This device is designed to grow with you, supporting your technical advancement over the long term without ever limiting you. Whether you are diving on air at a depth of twenty meters or using multiple decompression stops with oxygen-rich gases, it performs flawlessly. It manages up to eight different gas types, including air, Nitrox from 21% to 100%, as well as normoxic and hypoxic Trimix for extreme explorations. A native CCR mode is also integrated for those who use closed-circuit rebreathers and demand absolute redundancy in their partial pressure of oxygen calculations. The wireless air integration relies on a low-frequency radio technology that ensures stable transmission of pressure data from the first stage of your regulator. This direct display of gas consumption on your wrist significantly improves the diver's awareness of their remaining gas supply. Managing multiple gases requires rigor, method, and concentration during underwater cylinder changes to avoid any toxicity. The G3 simplifies this critical procedure with an interface that validates each gas change with absolute clarity, eliminating any doubt.

Screen and ErgonomicsChoosing a square format inevitably results in a smaller screen size compared to the large rectangular models that are typically mounted on the forearm.

However, the G3 compensates for this limited surface area with spectacular readability that pleasantly surprises you from your very first dive into the blue depths. The high-resolution color TFT screen, approximately 1.2 inches in size, offers striking contrast that penetrates even waters with a high concentration of suspended particles. The menus are displayed entirely in text, which avoids having to memorize cryptic abbreviations that often cause confusion when making last-minute adjustments. Navigation is performed using four robust physical buttons that remain usable even with moderately thick neoprene gloves without sacrificing sensitivity. The display is highly customizable, allowing you to highlight the data that seems most crucial based on your dive profile for the day. The interface is so intuitive that even under the effects of mild nitrogen narcosis, reading vital parameters remains immediate and requires no additional cognitive effort. The visual clarity actively contributes to reducing stress during critical ascent phases, where maximum concentration is required.

Battery LifePower management is a crucial factor for computers with bright color displays, as these heavily drain the batteries.

Choosing a USB-rechargeable lithium battery provides undeniable convenience for everyday use, eliminating the need to visit a specialized repair shop. This technical solution offers up to thirty hours of battery life in dive mode, which comfortably covers an intensive weekend of training or exploration. The precise percentage indicator allows you to assess the remaining charge without any ambiguity before gearing up and entering the water. User feedback indicates excellent battery performance, even during prolonged dives in cold water, where batteries tend to weaken quickly. However, this technology requires strict logistical discipline, leaving no room for oversight when carefully preparing your diving equipment. It is essential to remember to bring your specific charging cable before embarking on a long cruise, where replacement options are unavailable. Recharging becomes a daily routine that complements the maintenance of your dive lights, photographic equipment, and heating systems.

Connectivity and ApplicationThe digital age demands seamless communication between our specialized diving instruments and the everyday mobile devices that centralize our data.

Connecting to your smartphone is effortless thanks to the discreet Bluetooth Low Energy module integrated into the stainless steel housing. The LogTrak 2.0 app proves to be a regular and reliable tool for analyzing your dive profiles once you're back on dry land, with a good cup of coffee. It allows you to keep your logbook up-to-date with remarkable precision and enrich your memories with objective data about temperature or air consumption. You can also conveniently adjust the computer's settings from your phone while on the surface, without having to manipulate the watch buttons. Firmware updates are performed wirelessly via your smartphone, ensuring that your device is always up-to-date with the latest software improvements from the manufacturer. Data export is easily accessible for those who wish to keep an independent record of their dives in third-party decompression analysis software. This seamless connectivity extends the diving experience far beyond simply exiting the water and makes it easier to share your experiences with your dive buddies.

Compass and InstrumentsUnderwater orientation is a fundamental skill that determines the success and safety of any exploration in an unfamiliar location.

The G3's three-dimensional electronic compass makes navigation straightforward, even in conditions with severely reduced visibility due to sediment. It automatically compensates for inclines, allowing you to orient yourself without having to keep your wrist perfectly flat, as required by a traditional magnetic compass. This tolerance for movement is a major advantage when you need to simultaneously manage a rebreather, a reel, or a bulky camera. The integrated thermometer provides accurate readings that help anticipate temperature changes during deep dives and allow you to adjust your thermal protection accordingly. The device also offers dedicated modes for freediving and diving with gauges, catering to all aquatic activities with a single piece of equipment. It's such a high-performance navigation tool that even returning to the boat in extremely murky water becomes calm and methodical. The precision of the onboard instruments reinforces the diver's confidence in their ability to master their environment and return to their starting point.

Durability and Depth RatingThe marine environment is harsh on electronic equipment that isn't specifically designed to withstand its repeated stresses and salt corrosion.

The G3 is built like a miniature, robust safe, protecting its internal components from external damage with remarkable efficiency. The stainless steel housing and scratch-resistant sapphire glass can handle the inevitable impacts against shipwreck hulls or rocks without any issues. This exceptional robustness allows it to achieve a certified depth rating of an impressive 300 meters, far exceeding the limits of recreational diving. Strict CE certifications guarantee that each component has been tested to withstand the most extreme pressures encountered during deep explorations. It's a very, very, very durable instrument that will accompany you for years of intensive use without showing any signs of structural weakness. The quality of the materials used fully justifies the high-end positioning of this dive computer, which makes no compromises on durability.

Price and Customer SupportTechnical excellence and absolute reliability require a financial investment that should be carefully considered based on your diving frequency.

The price typically ranges from approximately €850 to €950 for the basic version, excluding the wireless pressure transmitter, which represents an additional cost. This high price positions the G3 in the category of premium equipment designed for truly passionate divers who demand the best available gear. However, this investment is backed by an exceptionally extensive network of dealers throughout Europe and worldwide. After-sales service and spare parts are widely available in France, Belgium, and Switzerland to ensure regular maintenance. The standard warranty covers any potential manufacturing defects with a level of seriousness that has built the brand's reputation for decades. This is a purchase designed for the long term, justified by hundreds of safe dives and unparalleled ease of use.

The Trimix and CCR functions require specific training and a thorough understanding of hyperbaric physiology before they can be activated. Never use these features without possessing the appropriate certifications and practical experience required for these advanced dives, which do not tolerate errors. This computer is ideal for regular divers who are looking for an all-in-one device that can accompany them from summer recreational diving to the most challenging technical explorations. Its watch format allows you to wear it every day with elegance, subtly displaying your passion for the underwater world at the office or during evenings out. However, it is not the optimal choice for occasional divers who only go diving once a year in tropical waters to admire coral reefs. These infrequent divers often prefer to avoid the hassle of battery charging between dives that are months apart. A model with a user-replaceable battery would likely be more suitable for this type of sporadic activity, which requires less logistical preparation.

Scubapro relies on an excellent global network structured around authorized dealers who provide the first level of technical support with expertise. Warranty replacements are usually processed quickly when the diagnosis confirms a material defect covered by the general terms and conditions of sale. However, the efficiency of the service depends on the quality and involvement of your local dealer, who acts as a liaison with the manufacturer. It is always preferable to contact a specialized dive center that maintains direct and regular relationships with the brand. In Europe, the density of the network ensures that you can find a competent contact even when traveling abroad for diving vacations. This reassuring presence allows you to dive with peace of mind, knowing that a technical solution is never far away in case of unexpected problems.

Choosing a USB-rechargeable battery requires proactive management of the power supply for your electronic equipment to avoid running out of power underwater. In the field, this energy management becomes crucial and should be integrated into your meticulous preparation routine. You will need to include charging the computer in your evening tasks, just like maintaining your dive lights and rinsing your regulators. On a cruise where electrical outlets are sometimes scarce or shared among passengers, this limitation requires careful logistical planning. If you choose the version with air integration, keep in mind that the transmitters consume battery power significantly faster than the rest of the electronics. You should always have a reliable backup method, such as a traditional mechanical pressure gauge or a backup regulator equipped to handle any malfunction. Air integration greatly simplifies reading parameters, but it never replaces the essential hardware redundancy necessary for your safety.
