Introduction
The evaluation of diving equipment is based on a systematic analysis of the technical specifications provided by manufacturers and retailers. The choice of a mask depends on a strict match between optical design, mechanical construction, and facial morphology. This objective approach excludes any subjective considerations, focusing instead on verifiable facts recorded in the technical data sheets.
The Scubapro D-Mask model is positioned in the high-end segment of dual-lens masks. Designed for technical diving and recreational exploration, it features advanced modularity and a comprehensive set of features. The goal of this analysis is to examine each functional aspect through a structured evaluation framework, while also acknowledging the limitations inherent in the available data and the need for a preliminary morphological fitting.
Summary Verdict
The Scubapro D-Mask achieves an overall documented score of 4.28 out of 5. This result reflects a high-end design focused on optical modularity, robustness, and ergonomics, tempered by the lack of numerical data regarding internal volume and the requirement for standard maintenance of the purge valve.

This mask is designed for: technical and recreational divers looking for a modular dual-lens model, compatible with optical corrections, and equipped with a mount for the Galileo HUD computer.
This mask is not ideal for: users seeking a minimalist mask for freediving, or those whose facial structure does not match any of the three available skirt sizes.
Detailed Analysis
M1 - Volume and Field of View
The Scubapro D-Mask features a framed dual-lens design that structures the underwater space. Official sources position this model as balancing visibility with volume control. However, technical specifications do not provide precise measurements of internal volume in milliliters or a numerical value for the field of view in degrees.
Framed dual-lens architecture (Score: 4.2 / 5)
Internal volume not specified numerically in documentation (Score: 4.2 / 5)
Horizontal and vertical field of view not documented in degrees (Score: 4.2 / 5)
M2 - Skirt and FitThe Scubapro D-Mask incorporates second-generation Trufit technology, combining a firmer silicone near the rigid frame for stability and a softer silicone on the edges to maximize comfort. Furthermore, the manufacturer offers this model in three distinct sizes: Small, Medium, and Wide, which expands the possibilities for anatomical fit.
Availability in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Wide (Score: 4.5 / 5)
Seal dependent on individual anatomy (Score: 4.5 / 5)
M3 - Lenses and Communication
The Scubapro D-Mask is equipped with lenses featuring true color UV protection, preserving contrast and clarity underwater while providing protection against solar radiation. In addition, the mask supports the installation of interchangeable single vision and bifocal corrective lenses.
Lenses with true color UV protection (Score: 4.5 / 5)
Support for single vision and bifocal corrective lenses (Score: 4.5 / 5)
Preservation of underwater contrast (Score: 4.5 / 5)
M4 - Anti-Fog and Maintenance
The Scubapro D-Mask does not have a permanent anti-fog treatment applied to its lenses at the factory. Therefore, users must use traditional methods of preparation and mechanical or chemical cleaning before first use.- No permanent anti-fog treatment from the factory (Score: 3.0 / 5) - Requires mechanical or chemical pre-treatment (Score: 3.0 / 5) - Compatibility with common cleaning products (Score: 3.0 / 5)
M5 - Strap and Ergonomics
The Scubapro D-Mask comes with a Comfort Strap designed to distribute pressure on the occiput. The adjustment buckles allow for precise adjustments, even when the diver is wearing thick gloves or operating in a technical configuration.
Ergonomic Comfort Strap (Score: 4.5 / 5)
Micrometric adjustment of the buckles (Score: 4.5 / 5)
Easy handling with gloves (Score: 4.5 / 5)
M6 - Durability and Accessories

What to know before you buy
Purchasing a technical mask like the Scubapro D-Mask requires careful consideration of several morphological factors. The presence of Trufit technology with three skirt sizes is a major advantage, but it necessitates determining your precise size. A physical fitting in a specialized store remains the most reliable method for choosing between the Small, Medium, and Wide versions.
From an optical perspective, lenses with true color UV protection offer excellent visual comfort. If vision correction is essential for reading instruments, it's important to verify the availability and cost of compatible corrective lenses. Finally, the integrated mount for the Galileo HUD computer is primarily intended for users who already have this ecosystem.
Trying on the mask before purchase: the criterion that surpasses all other scores. This comparison helps you to compare the different models. However, it cannot tell you if a mask is suitable for your face. Before purchasing, place the mask on without the strap, inhale gently through your nose, and check that it fits securely on its own, without any pressure points or leaks. This step represents more than 80% of the actual importance of your purchase. If the skirt doesn't fit your facial structure, no ultra-clear lens, anti-fog treatment, or buckle system will compensate for the problem.
Safety Reminder
In scuba diving, safety relies heavily on visual communication and signals exchanged with your dive buddy. A properly fitting mask should allow you to clearly see facial expressions and hand gestures underwater.
Regarding optical options, clear UV protective lenses preserve transparency and do not compromise light transmission. However, choosing tinted or filtering variants should be done with careful consideration, as they reduce ambient light in deep water.
Our Verdict
The Scubapro D-Mask represents a high-end option that is particularly well-designed for divers seeking optical and technical modularity. Its three-size skirt design, interchangeable lens system, and support for the Galileo HUD computer make it a powerful tool, but its purchase should be validated by a thorough fit test.### Maintenance and Lifespan
To preserve the qualities of the Scubapro D-Mask, a thorough rinsing with fresh water after each use in saltwater is essential. Storage should be in a rigid case away from direct sunlight to prevent the Trufit silicone from deteriorating. Regularly disassembling the frames helps remove salt crystals and ensures the longevity of the attachment points.
Other Models from the Brand to Consider
Scubapro offers other notable models that are worth considering. The Scubapro Zoom EVO is a low-volume dual-lens model with user-friendly lens replacement. The Scubapro Spectra offers a classic dual-lens design with a double skirt and pivoting buckles, providing a more accessible alternative.
