Introduction
Analyzing scuba diving equipment requires a rigorous methodology that separates marketing claims from verifiable technical specifications. As part of our documentary evaluation process for the 2026 season, the review of the Mares Force-X LS mask is based exclusively on official specifications published by the manufacturer and authorized distributors [1] [2]. This work is intended for divers, instructors, and enthusiasts who want to understand the design of this equipment without subjective interference.
Our team did not conduct any field tests in a natural environment or morphological testing in a pool for this model. The information presented here reflects the state of documented data as of August 18, 2026. The goal of this study is to analyze the architecture of the Mares Force-X LS to highlight its strengths and objective limitations, enabling informed decision-making before purchase.
Summary Verdict
The Mares Force-X LS mask receives an overall weighted score of 4.4 out of 5, placing it in the high-end segment of double-lens masks with a reinforced structure.

This mask is designed for divers looking for a robust and modular dual-lens model, combining a stainless steel frame with a comfortable skirt for extended use. This mask is not ideal for those who prefer minimalism in freediving, as they prioritize extremely reduced internal volumes and frameless designs.
Detailed Analysis
M1 - Volume and Field of View
The Mares Force-X LS's dual-lens design aims to provide an extensive frontal and lateral field of view while maintaining a balanced geometry. The advertised panoramic field of view benefits from a well-designed architecture, although the exact internal volume in cubic centimeters is not provided in the manufacturer's official specifications.
Criteria: Panoramic dual-lens architecture and visual field (Score: 4.5/5) Criteria: Quantified internal volume (Score: 3.0/5 - Data not documented)
M2 - Skirt and FitThe mask skirt incorporates LiquidSkin bi-silicone technology. This approach combines two types of silicones with different mechanical properties to ensure both the structural rigidity needed for a secure fit and the flexibility required for facial contact. However, the seal still depends on the morphology of each user.
Criteria: LiquidSkin bi-silicone technology and facial comfort (Score: 4.5/5) Criteria: Universal adaptability to different face shapes (Score: 3.0/5 - Data not documented)
M3 - Lenses and Communication
This model stands out for its versatility in optics. It offers excellent visual clarity and ensures complete compatibility with corrective lenses, facilitating non-verbal communication and the reading of underwater diving instruments.
Criteria: Optical clarity and lens quality (Score: 4.8/5) Criteria: Compatibility with corrective lenses (Score: 4.8/5)
M4 - Anti-Fog and Maintenance
Official documentation does not mention a permanent anti-fog treatment applied at the factory to the lenses. Therefore, the user must thoroughly clean and degrease the lenses before the first dive to prevent condensation.
Criteria: Documented factory-applied anti-fog treatment (Score: 2.0/5 - Data not documented) Criteria: Ease of maintenance and cleaning (Score: 4.0/5)
M5 - Strap and ErgonomicsThe adjustment system relies on an elastic silicone strap combined with quick-release metal clips. This design allows for easy tension adjustment, even when the diver is wearing thick gloves in cold water.
Criteria: Elastic silicone strap and secure fit (Score: 4.2/5) Criteria: Ease of use with gloves (Score: 4.2/5)
M6 - Robustness and Accessories
The robustness is a major strength of this model, thanks to the integration of a solid stainless steel frame and durable metal clips. The mask comes standard with an eco-friendly EVA storage box.
Criteria: Stainless steel frame and durability (Score: 5.0/5) Criteria: Inclusion of a rigid protective case (Score: 4.6/5)
M7 - Price and Availability
Positioned in the high-end segment, the Mares Force-X LS reflects its quality of construction with a relatively high price. Its availability varies depending on specialized distribution networks and the seven color variations offered.
Criteria: Pricing consistent with the high-end segment (Score: 4.2/5) Criteria: Availability in the diving market (Score: 4.2/5)
What to know before you buyAcquiring a high-end scuba mask requires considering several structural parameters. Choosing a stainless steel frame provides excellent resistance to impacts and mechanical stress encountered in demanding marine environments. However, this structural rigidity results in a slightly higher weight compared to frameless freediving masks, which is something to consider for comfort during extended dives.
The LiquidSkin skirt technology offers an interesting balance between flexibility and fit, but it does not eliminate the need for a thorough facial compatibility check. Divers who require vision correction will find this model advantageous because it accommodates corrective lenses, avoiding the need to wear contact lenses underwater. Finally, the absence of a permanent anti-fog treatment means adopting good practices for preparing new lenses right out of the EVA packaging.
Trying on the mask before purchase: the most important factor. This comparison helps you to compare the different models. However, it cannot tell you if a mask is suitable for your face. Before purchasing, place the mask on your face without the strap, inhale gently through your nose, and check that it stays in place on its own, without any pressure points or leaks. This step represents more than 80% of the actual importance of your purchase. If the skirt doesn't fit your facial structure, no ultra-clear lens, anti-fog treatment, or buckle system will compensate for the problem.
Safety Reminder
In scuba diving, visual communication with your buddy and recognition of shared signals are fundamental pillars of safety underwater. The choice of lenses, whether standard or specialized, should always take into account the lighting conditions encountered at the dive sites. Furthermore, mask variations that incorporate special surface treatments should be selected with full awareness of their impact on light transmission and the visibility of facial expressions for your diving companions.
Our VerdictThe Mares Force-X LS is a very solid technical option for divers looking for a durable, dual-lens mask. The combination of a stainless steel frame, LiquidSkin technology, and compatibility with corrective lenses makes it a versatile and reliable piece of equipment. The scores and analyses presented here confirm its inherent qualities, while also emphasizing that an individual morphological fitting remains the absolute key to a successful purchase.
Maintenance and Lifespan
To preserve the mechanical and optical qualities of the Mares Force-X LS over time, thorough rinsing with fresh water after each use in saltwater is essential. It is important to remove any salt or sand residue, especially on the quick-release metal clips and the grooves of the silicone skirt. Storage should be done away from direct sunlight and intense heat sources to prevent premature aging of the bi-silicone material. Using the original EVA storage box effectively protects the stainless steel frame and lenses from accidental scratches during transport.
Other models from the brand to compareWithin the same brand's catalog, the Mares X-Free model offers an interesting alternative for divers focused on freediving and spearfishing, thanks to its significantly reduced internal volume and a very lightweight frameless design.
