The device is surprising in its format, redefining the concept of portability. With a length of 70 millimeters, it occupies a surface area smaller than a credit card. Its 10-millimeter thickness allows it to slip into the smallest pocket of a backpack without creating a bulge. The weight of 45 grams is a major advantage for those looking to lighten their equipment without sacrificing storage capacity. The choice of materials represents a departure from the usual plastic housings. The brushed aluminum top provides a welcome rigidity. However, the side edges, covered with a woven fabric, attract attention. While this finish gives the device a certain elegance, it presents a challenge for use near the ocean. The textile fibers can trap fine particles. Saltwater, sand, or moisture can become embedded in this coating. For a photographer working on a boat, this requires a strict handling protocol to prevent the housing from becoming a breeding ground for corrosion.

Behind this exterior lies a technical architecture capable of meeting the demands of current production workflows. The Seagate One Touch SSD utilizes the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard, allowing theoretical transfer rates of 10 Gbps. The specifications state read speeds of up to 1030 MB/s [2]. These figures place the device among the fastest compact drives, far ahead of older SATA models. For photographers who frequently download images from SD or CFexpress memory cards, this performance improvement is immediate. Transferring a day's worth of photos now takes only a few seconds. This speed allows for video editing directly from the SSD. A 4K video stream can be played smoothly, provided the computer has a compatible port [3].

Data protection is a key consideration. In this area, the Seagate One Touch SSD takes a unique approach. It does not include hardware-based AES 256-bit encryption. Without built-in password protection, files remain accessible to anyone who possesses the physical drive. To secure sensitive content, users will need to rely on software solutions such as BitLocker or FileVault.Seagate compensates for this limitation by including Rescue Data Recovery services for three years [1]. This service provides a guarantee of an attempt to recover data in a laboratory setting in the event of a failure. Whether it's due to software corruption or accidental damage, having this safety net is a benefit for the peace of mind of the traveler. The Seagate Toolkit software complements the offering by allowing for the setup of automatic backups and folder synchronization.

The Seagate One Touch SSD is not a field-ready device. The complete lack of IP certification means that the enclosure offers no protection against liquids or dust. In the context of a diving cruise, this characteristic dictates how it should be used. The drive must remain confined to the dry area of the ship or inside a waterproof case.

An accidental drop into the water or exposure to sea spray could cause a short circuit in the electronics. The open structure of the USB-C connector is not protected by a cover, which makes it vulnerable to salt oxidation. This SSD is a transitional tool- it is used to offload memory cards in a safe environment, but it should not be used in degraded environmental conditions. For those who need a device that is resistant to drops or immersion, you will need to consider ruggedized models.## Budget and Market Positioning

With a price of around 120 euros for 2 TB, the Seagate One Touch SSD offers an attractive price-to-capacity ratio. It positions itself as a high-performance storage solution for users who don't want to invest in ruggedized drives. Its versatility is enhanced by its original formatting in exFAT, which makes it operational on various systems without requiring reformatting.

This model is well-suited as a secondary backup device. In a rigorous data protection strategy, it can serve as a mirrored copy stored separately from the laptop. Its lightweight design means you can easily forget about it until its use becomes necessary. It's a rational choice for travelers who prioritize discretion and speed, while being aware of the physical limitations of the device.

Within AquaExposure, the Seagate One Touch SSD receives a Diver Score of 3/10. This rating is explained by the specifics of our criteria. Our scoring system places importance on the resilience of the equipment against marine environments. The lack of protection against impacts and the absence of a moisture barrier negatively impact the final score.A score of 3/10 doesn't mean the product is bad. It simply indicates that it doesn't fulfill the functions of a rugged drive. For stationary use while traveling, it remains a viable option. The presence of rescue features is a positive aspect that was noted during our technical analysis. In summary, the Seagate One Touch SSD is an effective travel companion, provided you treat it with the care that precision electronics without protection deserve.
