Scubaforce Black Devil 45 Twinset System Review: What you really need to consider before buying it.
A buoyancy compensator (BCD) doesn't become good simply by adding up technical features. It becomes useful when it stops occupying the diver's mind. The Scubaforce Black Devil 45 Twinset System falls into the backplate + wing donut twin-cylinder category and makes a specific promise: to serve a diving practice focused on twin cylinders, technical dives, cold water, and deep wrecks. This guide is not a substitute for a trial, but it allows you to know exactly what the model offers and what problems it doesn't solve. [1]The question is less about whether this BCD is inherently good and more about verifying if it's compatible with your regulator, thermal protection, weight system, accessories, and skill level. As a backplate and wing system, this model separates the structure, harness, and bladder. This modularity can accommodate progression, provided you verify the assembly, weighting, and wing size before changing configurations. [2] [3]
The Verdict in Summary
The Scubaforce Black Devil 45 Twinset System receives an overall AquaExposure score of 4.1/5. This rating should be considered within its category and not used as a universal truth. Its key features include: 20 L / 45 lb capacity for twin cylinders, double-layer 1000D Cordura material, removable bladder, and Scubaforce technical design. Its main limitations are the harness and weight system requiring configuration, it's intended for trained divers only, and the estimated price of the complete system. [1]

Detailed Analysis
G1 Buoyancy
The advertised buoyancy is 20 kg, which is 45 lb. This volume should not be considered in isolation. It must account for the negative buoyancy of the complete configuration, including the tank(s), gas, wetsuit, weights, and accessories. An insufficient value can reduce comfort at the surface. An excessive value does not automatically make a dive safer. [4]
The Black Devil 45 is a double-bladder wing with a capacity of 20 liters for twin cylinders up to 2 x 12 liters. The 1000D Cordura construction, removable bladder, and metal inflator are suitable for technical diving applications. The level of customization requires assembly, training, and compatibility checks before purchase. This assessment gives the Scubaforce Black Devil 45 Twinset System a G1 score of 4.7/5. Trim and purge control must be performed under the intended conditions, not just in dry conditions. [1]
G2 Weighting
This model does not include integrated ditchable weights in the described configuration, with an indicated capacity of 0 kg. It includes 2 trim pockets. This distribution can help adjust balance, but it does not replace a thorough weight check. Weights should always remain manageable, understood, and appropriate for the environment. [3]The G2 score of 2.5/5 reflects the capacity and logical arrangement of this model's features. Before purchasing, verify the actual functionality of the pockets with your own weights and your usual wetsuit.
G3 Storage
The Scubaforce Black Devil 45 Twinset System includes 0 storage pockets and 7 metal D-rings. The product description lists these attachments as "Recommended technical configuration using webbing and stainless steel D-rings, wing sold separately." This information is important when you need to carry a buoyancy compensator (BCD), a reel, a light or a housing. [1]
The G3 score of 3.0/5 does not evaluate the absolute volume of a pocket. It expresses the suitability between the available attachment points and accessories typically associated with twin-tank configurations, technical diving, cold water conditions, and deep wreck dives.
G4 Harness
The harness is described as a "Modular technical harness + stainless steel or aluminum backplate, configurable." The product description mentions 3 adjustment axes. This is a useful indicator, but comfort also depends on your size, shoulder width, torso length, wetsuit, and the position of the cylinders on your back. [2]
The G4 score of 4.7/5 reflects the potential for adjustment in this design. A test dive should verify that the straps do not pull, that the waistband does not ride up, and that the controls remain accessible when the BCD is inflated.
G5 MaterialsThe stated weight is 3.6 kg, and the construction is advertised as double-layer Cordura 1000D. The D-rings are made of metal. These features indicate expected durability, resistance to wear and tear, and ease of transport, but they alone cannot determine the longevity of a specific unit. [1]
The G5 score of 5.0/5 reflects this assessment of construction quality. The actual condition of a used BCD, including its servicing history, inflators, and purge valves, must be checked independently of its model year or brand reputation.
G6 Versatility
The configuration is advertised for twin-tank setups, technical diving, cold water conditions, and deep wrecks, with applications in temperate and cold waters. The specifications indicate compatibility with twin tanks but no declared sidemount compatibility. Therefore, its actual range of use is limited to twin-tank configurations. [1]
The G6 score of 4.5/5 expresses its ability to adapt to different diving practices without implying that a single model is suitable for all types of diving. A transition to technical diving may require a completely different system rather than simply adding accessories.
What you need to know before buyingThe first check concerns buoyancy. With a declared buoyancy of 20 kg, the Scubaforce Black Devil 45 Twinset System needs to be adjusted to your actual configuration. A thicker wetsuit, a steel tank, saltwater, a housing, or a light can significantly change the required buoyancy. The correct decision starts with a buoyancy check at the end of the dive, not based on a general rule. [4]
The second check concerns comfort. This model features a modular technical harness and stainless steel or aluminum backplate, which are configurable. Wear it with your usual thermal protection, then check underwater the breathing effort, access to purge valves, the direct-system functionality, and the position of the tank. A poorly fitted BCD adds mental strain that the diver should be dedicating to the environment and their dive buddy. [2]
The third check is about usability. As a backplate and wing system, this model separates the structure, the harness, and the wing. This modularity can facilitate progression, provided you verify the assembly, weighting, and wing size before changing configurations. The identified features- 20 L / 45 lb for twin tanks, double 1000D Cordura bladder, removable air cell, Scubaforce technical design - should be weighed against the limitations: harness and weights require configuration, intended for divers trained in this technique, estimated price of the complete system. The average indicative price of €849 in 2026 is a point of comparison, but never a safety criterion.<!-- DIRECTION VISUELLE SECONDAIRE : detail of the harness. Safety Reminder
The advertised buoyancy, price, and score do not replace a test dive, a weight check, or appropriate training. Any modification to the tank, wetsuit, weights, or accessories requires re-verifying the configuration. For a dual-tank "donut" backplate + wing system, it is essential to understand the equipment before entrusting it with responsibilities that it cannot handle alone. [2] [3] [4]
Our Verdict
The Scubaforce Black Devil 45 Twinset System is suitable for dual-tank configurations, technical diving, cold water conditions, and deep wrecks when the user's morphology, weighting, and environment match the specifications. Its advantages include a 20 L / 45 lb capacity for dual tanks, a double Cordura 1000D bladder, a removable air bladder, and Scubaforce technical design. Its limitations are that the harness and weights require configuration, it is intended for technically trained divers only, and the estimated price of the complete system is relatively high. Therefore, the best purchase is not based on the highest score, but on choosing a configuration that is understandable, comfortable, and appropriately sized for the type of diving you will actually be doing.
